MERIDIAN READINESS · BY SIMPLEX

From strategy to codebase. One connected view of readiness.

Understand your current position, make better investment decisions, and identify the controls and improvements needed for responsible AI and resilient engineering. The assessment is a starting point in the Meridian continuous improvement approach—not the end of the journey.

Six connected readiness domains

Our six-domain agentic engineering readiness instrument provides an evidence-led view from strategic alignment through the systems and teams that must deliver. The questions, evidence depth and review boundaries are calibrated to your organisation.

01

Strategy & Roadmap Alignment

Is there a clear business direction, ownership and credible investment path?

02

Governance & Risk

Are responsibilities, decisions, security and risk controls practical and evidenced?

03

Engineering Organisation

Can teams, roles, skills and delivery practices support reliable change?

04

AI & Agentic Readiness

Can AI and agents be used purposefully, with appropriate autonomy and oversight?

05

Codebase & Application Design

Are applications maintainable, modular and suitable for evolution or AI-assisted engineering?

06

Platform & Infrastructure

Do infrastructure, integration, data and operational foundations support secure scaling?

Two useful starting lenses

These are complementary ways to focus an engagement within Meridian, rather than two disconnected consulting products. Some organisations need a broad AI maturity baseline; others need to understand the viability of a software investment or its readiness for AI-assisted engineering. We agree the scope before work begins.

ENTERPRISE AI MATURITY

Can the organisation govern AI at scale?

Examine the organisation-wide structures, controls and evidence needed to move from pilots into dependable AI operations.

Typical emphasis

  • Strategy and value, use-case governance
  • Data readiness, platform architecture, security and privacy
  • Model and tool lifecycle, operating model, assurance and evidence

APPLICATION & AGENTIC ENGINEERING

Is the technology investment fit to evolve?

Review the strategy-to-codebase six-domain readiness picture, with deeper technical examination where required.

Typical emphasis

  • Application viability, code quality and architecture boundaries
  • Engineering organisation, DevEx and platform readiness
  • AI-assisted development opportunities, constraints and control requirements

An assessment is the beginning, not the finish line

Our work is organised around the decisions and investment horizons that matter to you. A baseline assessment produces findings and priorities. We can then help translate those findings into policies, practices, architecture and controls—and return periodically to assess progress and emerging requirements.

HORIZON 1

Establish a trustworthy baseline

Capture evidence, understand readiness and risks, and agree the priorities for improvement.

HORIZON 2

Put findings into practice

Support governance, engineering and technical controls that enable safe delivery and accountable AI operations.

Horizon 3 — Extend capability responsibly

Once the foundations and controls are established, organisations can explore more capable AI and agentic workflows, while keeping human accountability, monitoring and the ability to intervene. Reassessment and improvement continue across every horizon.

What you receive

The exact outputs depend on the agreed scope and evidence available. Typical deliverables include:

  • An evidence-based baseline — strengths, limitations and confidence in the findings.
  • Prioritised risks and opportunities — tied to business objectives and technical constraints.
  • Decision options — where relevant, what to retain, modernise, separate, control or investigate further.
  • A practical roadmap — recommended actions, dependencies and a basis for measuring future progress.

How we work

We agree scope, stakeholders, information access and objectives; capture interviews and relevant evidence; score and calibrate findings after review; discuss the conclusions with your team; and translate them into a prioritised improvement plan.

Assessment scoring is based on demonstrated evidence, not optimistic self-report. We distinguish confirmed findings from assumptions and unresolved questions. More detailed assessment instruments remain proprietary.

Start with the decision you need to make
